In partnership with the City of Detroit's Substance Abuse Prevention Initiative we are able to expose youth to alternative techniques for coping with anxiety and anger as opposed to using alcohol, marijuana and cigarettes. Youth groups meet at the Hamtramck Center, Delray Neighborhood House and various youth groups in the City of Detroit and surrounding Wayne County.

Saturday night the women had an informative and fun session called "Girl Talk". We also had 2 of Detroit's Finest comedians on the agenda, who provided a comedy show that was appropriate for all ages. The women danced the night away as they learned the latest hustle dances courtesy of Ms. Sand. People's Community Services was excited to partner with the C.L.A.S.S. program, Ms. Carolyn Anderson and her wonderful team to give almost 100 women an opportunity to receive information on a holistic approach to prevention and substance abuse treatment services.
We want to thank The City of Detroit Substance Abuse Prevention Treatment and Recovery Department for sponsoring this exciting weekend retreat. Mrs. Karra Thomas, the Detroit Prevention Coordinator joined us briefly to uplift the women present and cheer them on to a successful event.
We are encouraging all women who participated to write us a letter about your experience. We know lives were changed.
We look forward to next years event. So tell us about the difference this event made in your life.
