SENIOR WELL-BEING

Senior Day Time - PCS operates Senior Day Time programs for Hamtramck, Highland Park and North Central Detroit. On-site nursing care is provided to help restore and rehabilitate strength and mental sharpness and to monitor those seniors who need supervision. Planned activities include recreation, exercise, lunch, computer time, arts and crafts, and field trips. The knowledgeable senior staff also work with seniors to make referrals for financial counseling, legal assistance, housing and other needs not met directly through the Center.

Senior Transportation - PCS operates, wheelchair accessible buses that are available to seniors within a 20-mile radius of the Hamtramck Senior Center. Our bus service can transport seniors from their homes to the senior center or to medical appoints and back. With the City of Highland Park, we are  looking to expand this service by another 10 mile radius by October 2003.

Home Care Assistance - Our qualified, screened homemaking assist the seniors in their home by performing routine household tasks to help the senior with functional limitations maintain an adequate living environment. Some homemaking tasks include laundry, meal preparation, dusting, vacuuming, dishwashing, and other light housekeeping tasks and generally checking on the senior's living conditions.

Noon-Time Lunch - Open to all persons 60 years and over at 11:30am Monday through Thursday.

Community Distribution - Foodbaskets are provided to qualifying seniors once a month or as needed.
