Free TransportationWe
provide transportation to seniors and people with disabilities for non-emergency medical appointments, grocery
shopping, and social events. Our purpose is to ensure residents can
continue to be independent and participating members in the community. People’s Community Services is well-established in both Hamtramck and Highland Park and has long-time partnerships with municipal governments and community organizations to help ensure mobility remains a right and not a privilege. Transportation in Highland ParkPeople’s Community Services
was awarded a new SMART handicapped-friendly bus, which will expand free
transportation to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to Highland Park senior
citizens and persons with a disability. Persons with a disability living in the service area are encouraged to utilize the new bus services that includes door to door services to the following Highland Park Senior Buildings: Bishop Moore, Gabrielle Apt, Bella Vista Apartmentst, Downs Manor, and Buena Vista Apartments The free transportation services are scheduled for
Mondays and Wednesdays are designated for market and grocery shopping while Tuesdays entail banking and credit union trips as well as transportation to clinics and health facilities. Trips to the clinic are also offered outside of the specified service area to residents in residential homes. For more information, please call 313-365-6260. Transportation for YouthFree transportation is offered to youth that will take them to fun activities at the Delray Neighborhood House.
The transportation is free for youth ages 12-18, but registration is
required. The Delray bus is also used to take youth on field trips such
as plays, college open houses, and science fairs. |
